Shadow Over the Nentir Vale
Nina Orell was born in the city of Sarthel and raised in the streets. She made her way by stealing loaves of bread and hunks of cheese from market. Determined to become something more, she began stealing things she could fence so that she could save up money and purchase a home. The law became aware of her thefts, but far too late. She had saved up quite a lot of money and moved north to a small village known as Stasi. She purchased a house and began learning the finer graces of life. She was not much for the small town’s noble class, but she began using her connections as marks she would burgle. No one ever suspected her due to her pleasing appearance.
She banded together with a number of other thieves in the town. They had a goal to rob an old tomb just a ways north of the village. Once there, Nina was betrayed by the other bandits, who revealed themselves to be members of the Shadow Ravens who were tired of her refusing to join their guild. She was left for dead outside of the tomb, but not before learning the Ravens were allied with a necromancer who laired beneath the mausoleum.
She was rescued by Vatic, the Magier sworn to protect the townsfolk. He told her he knew who she was and what she had been doing to get by for the last few years, but he would not bring the force of the law upon her if she agreed to aid him in the defeat of the necromancer. Seeing as her hands were tied in the matter, she agreed.
Roleplaying Notes: Nina is very independent, but she’s also very conversational. She desires to know as much as she can about the people around her, noting any weaknesses she can exploit or strengths she can turn to her advantage. She doesn’t like being manipulated, but she respects anyone cunning enough to trick her into doing something she doesn’t want to do.
Cyrus (Male Human): A sellsword. A dime a dozen with delusions of grandeur. Despite that, his handsome features, the seriousness of his voice, and the gravity of his eyes have captured you. Hopefully, he will prove a capable companion and not just eye candy.
Dargor (Male Dwarf): Cyrus’ boorish dwarf companion. He talks too much. But he has a really big axe, so he’s entitled.
Ilphae (Female Drow): Drow are known for their cunning. It seems this one has tricked the Great Church into making her a missionary to do the work of the Elven Moon Goddess. You’ve seen stranger and heard tales of even more so.
Meluriel (Female Eladrin): The eladrin knight of the drow priestess. You know that high elf knights are the most feared soldiers in Old Nerath, being the only folk to act as the guardians of the High Seneschal in Sarthel. The priestess could not have asked for a finer bodyguard.
Vatic (Male Tiefling): The magier of the town of Stasi. He has tricked you to help rescue the sons of a local nobleman. He is the only one who is aware of your vested interested in the defeat of the necromancer. If he defeats the necromancer, perhaps you can find something to track down these Shadow Ravens and bring about their end.
