History of Nerath
1373 ARCurrent year.
1372 ARKalarel is defeated at the Keep on the Shadowfell by the Heroes of the Vale.
1368 ARNimozaran the Green is inducted into the Magier and granted the official title of Septarch of Fallcrest, a title he had already afforded himself unofficially, by the High Seneschal Klaran Meitor. A number of other mages in the borderlands are accepted into the guild. King Kelvin decrees that each town must have a guild tower and representative for the Magier to serve as a guardian of the lands.
1365 ARFaren Markelhay is appointed Lord Warden of Fallcrest by King Kelvin the First.
1355 ARKing Kelvin’s reign is honored by the Barony of Therund, the Barony of Harkenwold, and a number of other small city-states in the borderlands. Kelvin begins planning a campaign for Nera, the ancient capital city of the Empire of Nerath, now held by demonic gnoll legions.
1347 ARKing Kelvin campaigns with his armies to the northlands. Felix Markelhay re-establishes Fallcrest after removing Bloodspear insurgency with the aid of the King.
1344 ARLord Kelvin Vendarson slaughters several members of the Council of Lords in Sarthel, his home city. They are proved to be traitors to the memory of Nerath, conspirators who were in league with agents of the Iron Citadel. The Magier and the Great Church recognize Kelvin Vendarson as a strong leader and worthy of the throne of Nerath. He declines that honor and instead creates a new monarchy. He is declared King Kelvin the First, Keeper of the Flame Imperishable and monarch of the Kingdom of Vendar. Sarthel becomes his capital city.
1282 ARThe Battle at Gardbury Downs is lost to the Bloodspear Clan, which leads to the sacking of the city of Fallcrest. The Bloodspears terrorize Nentir, causing refugees to flee from it to other regions past the Dawnforge Mountains and through the Harken Woods.
1271 ARThe Nerath Empire officially falls. Civil wars spring up amongst nobles who fight for their lands and try to conquer their neighbors.
1267 AREmperor Elidyr of Nerath is slain by an unknown agency. No heir is named or appointed. The nobility begin feuding over the throne, but no successor is named.
1053 ARFallcrest is established as a trade city of the Nerath Empire by Knight-Errant Lady Aranda Markelhay.
923 AREmperor Elidyr is crowned sovereign of Nerath, a government that controlled what is known today as the Vendar Province and most surrounding regions. His quest for control of more lands leads to the settlement of the Nentir Vale and hundreds of other once thought unlivable locations. The first few centuries of his rule are considered the “Golden Age” of Nerath.
