Brandis Day

Description:
Brandis was born in Hammerfast, home of the Great Church. Because of this, he has been educated on the many ways and dogmas of the number of different goodly gods. His father, Dorian, raised him agnostically, thus allowing him to choose a path for himself instead of indoctrinating him in the teachings of Ioun, which Dorian himself followed. After much study, Brandis decided to call Erathis his patron deity. Brandis is a very cultured young man who honors the traditions of any culture he feels is civilized. He tries to look at the world through the lens of Erathis, but is often conflicted with his sense of right and good which can clash with alien ideas of community.
Brandis trained as a squire like a number of his ancestors had before him. He learned the arts of the sword and shield. His father, a proficient swordmage, would occasionally teach him a new technique with the blade. He served as a keeper of the peace in Hammerfast, assuring that no problems arose amongst the citizenry, be they living or dead, orc, dwarf, or any else.
He met Aldus Splintershield in the watch. The two had a lot in common: a sense of duty, loyalty, and a desire to ensure the well-being of all around them. Aside from the sporadic kobold or goblin atack, the two had little to worry about besides the normal welfare of a city. Then came word of Inverness and Aldus left the watch. It was known to Brandis that the dwarf cleric wished to inhabit the ruins so as to make a place for his clan.
When Aldus called for citizens to come with him to Inverness to build a new town, Brandis knew it was his god’s wish for him to follow the dwarf and help spread civilization to the ruins that may have once held order. Aldus stands at the front of the caravan march south, shield ready for any dangers that may come upon the pilgrims.
Roleplaying Notes: Brandis is very reliable and tries to hear all sides of a matter before deciding which one is truly right. He is not quick to act, unless the action is taken against an immediate threat to his group or it conflicts with his moral compass. He is very even-handed, but at the same time he is the most vigorous of the defenders of the pilgrims.

The Others

Belgos (Male Drow): Belgos is very different than anything Brandis has ever encountered. He seems a cunning and skillful ally and he has a reputation in Hammerfall as a renowned hunter. It will be good to have his guidance in the wilds of the Vale.
Keira (Female Elf): This girl seems selfish and deceptive. She could prove helpful, but don’t rely too heavily on her on the pilgrimage.
Valanae (Female Eladrin): A devout cleric of the Raven Queen is a rarity in a city like Hammerfall that so clearly boasts its disregard for the laws of death. As an eladrin, she is definitely knowledgeable in the arcane and history. Her insight could prove useful and her healing will be most appreciated.
Fargrim (Male Dwarf): You’ve had to pull this lout off the street after a slight against a priest of Orcus in Hammerfall. He’s Aldus’ brother and he’s coming along to help build the Splintershield Clan’s reputation in the Vale. He’s strong, but unreliable. Hopefully his brother can keep his power focused.
Jarren (Male Human): A human mage who you’ve seen about town near the Grand Library while on patrol. Your father was a mage as well, so you’re not unfamiliar with the arts. An arcanist can always prove useful to a group.
Aldus (Male Dwarf): A good friend and devout follower of Moradin. He is on a noble quest to a community to the wilds and restore civilization in the ruins of its former glory. You feel you are called by Erathis himself to be at his side.
Malgram (Male Half-orc): Malgram served with the rangers of Hammerfall for a time and was among the number that found the ruins of Castle Inverness. He knows the road. He seems a strong fellow, but perhaps a bit stubborn at times.
Faldyra (Female Elf): You’re told she’s Brother Splintershield’s advisor in matters of magic. Two mages is better than one.
